Report: West Brom leading the race to sign Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher

West Brom are leading the chase to sign Chelsea starlet, Conor Gallagher, with Slaven Bilic keen to bring him to the Hawthorns this summer, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Blues youngster impressed last season in duel spells in the Championship, first with Charlton and then with Swansea.

Gallagher has emerged as one of the leading young English players and has already been recognised at under-21 level for England on more than one occasion.

However, his game time is bound to be limited at Chelsea given their squad. But Frank Lampard is apparently keen to tie Gallagher down to fresh terms, before allowing the 20-year-old to depart on loan once again.

The Baggies, then, are sitting in wait for Gallagher according to reports. Slaven Bilic is apparently keen on bringing in the youngster as he looks to ensure his squad has enough quality to compete at Premier League level.

This will be a real coup for Slaven Bilic if he can pull it off, with Gallagher being one of the more impressive young players to emerge at Chelsea in recent seasons.

He has goals and creativity in the locker, as shown by his six strikes last term and 11 assists. The next logical move is for him to test himself at Premier League level, with a club like West Brom the ideal place.

Hopefully, Gallagher gets game time wherever he ends up. On that note, he could do a lot worse than sign for the Baggies. The youngster won praise from Lee Bowyer previously, with the Charlton boss claiming he was ‘way above where he should be for his age’.
