Newcastle United have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea talent Conor Gallagher this summer, but the Daily Mail reports that Crystal Palace are currently more likely to sign him.
Reports have suggested that Newcastle are interested in bringing Gallagher to St James’ Park this summer and he’s apparently a top target for Eddie Howe.
The Magpies have been targeting attacking reinforcements and have reportedly seen bids knocked back for Leicester City’s James Maddison.
Gallagaher seems like an attractive alternative option for Howe and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer certainly rates him.
After the 22-year-old bagged a brace against West Ham for Palace last season, Shearer wrote on the Premier League’s website: “With two well-taken goals against an in-form Hammers side, the impressive Gallagher showed he is going from strength to strength.”

Palace more likely to sign Gallagher
But it seems that Newcastle could be set to miss out on another target, with the Daily Mail reporting that Palace will lead the race to sign the £35 million talent.
Gallagher spent last season on loan with the Eagles and really impressed, forcing his way into the England set-up.
And Palace believe this will give them the edge over Newcastle, if Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel allows the youngster to leave.
Chelsea are facing an injury crisis in central midfield, with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic currently ruled out.
Gallagher was handed his first start for the Blues on Sunday against Leeds, but was taken off after 60 minutes and endured a tough afternoon.

It remains unclear whether Tuchel will allow Gallagher to leave this summer, especially after injuries to two of his central midfielders.
But if the Blues do decide to move Gallagher on, then it seems Newcastle may be the player’s second choice behind Palace.
The England international played the best football of his career so far under Patrick Vieira last season and a move back to Palace seems to make sense for the player.
