Report: Crystal Palace confident of deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah

Crystal Palace are confident that they can reach an agreement for Eddie Nketiah having already made a bid of £8 million for the Arsenal striker, according to The Sun.

Nketiah may be one of the players Gunners fans may be expecting to move on in the final days of the transfer window.

As previously reported by The Athletic, his deal at the Emirates expires next summer. And Arsenal are yet to agree any fresh terms with the 22-year-old.

That report noted that Arsenal wanted £20 million for the starlet. But the Eagles are seemingly optimistic that they could get him for a lot less.

Is Alex Ferguson To Blame For Manchester United's Demise?

According to The Sun, they are prepared to offer up to £12 million for Nketiah. And interestingly, they are confident of agreeing terms with both Arsenal and Nketiah.

It is suggested that the Gunners may drop their asking price.

It must be noted that they have also made a £15 million bid for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard. And it is suggested that a Selhurst Park move is available to whichever striker is prepared to join first.

Is £12 million Nketiah sale to Crystal Palace worthwhile for Arsenal as deadline looms?

Nketiah’s stock has probably risen during the opening weeks of the season – despite the youngster not playing a single minute due to injury.

Arsenal have made a torrid start to the campaign. And they are yet to score a league goal.

If they have a striker target waiting in the wings, letting Nketiah – who earns £45,000-a-week – leave makes sense. But if he is unlikely to be replaced, surely Arsenal may be better off keeping him this summer.

Admittedly, he has not been prolific for the Gunners. But he may have a role to play if their woes in front of goal continue.

They may lose him on a free in that scenario. But if £12 million is not going to help them in this window, surely they may as well roll the dice and hope that he can be a lot more valuable than that for Mikel Arteta’s side this season.
