Tottenham Hotspur have received encouragement should they decide to target Tomas Soucek, with the Guardian reporting that contract talks with West Ham have reached a stalemate.
Soucek was a key part of the Hammers side that finished seventh in the Premier League and also reached the semi-final of the Europa League this past season. In total, the Czech Republic international played 51 times for the Irons.

His form has arguably not been as impressive in recent months. But West Ham are keen to agree a new deal with the 27-year-old whose current terms expire in 2024. The club do have an option to extend the contract by a further year.
There is interest from elsewhere. Alasdair Gold has previously suggested that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is a fan of Soucek.

It is hard to see Soucek making the move from West Ham to Spurs. However, the Hammers may be wary of the situation dragging on for too long.
The Guardian reports that talks over a new deal have reached an impasse as Soucek seeks a pay-rise. Both sides do hope that an agreement can still be reached.
Soucek contract talks reach a stalemate
Soucek has proved to be a brilliant signing for West Ham. The Hammers paid £19 million to make his deal permanent. And he has now made over a century of appearances for the club.
He has been labelled ‘incredible‘ in the past. And it is telling that Conte is an admirer and seemingly interested in taking him to Tottenham this summer.
The Irons will absolutely not sell Soucek on the cheap. And their asking price for Tottenham will surely be higher than if almost any other club comes in.
But it may be fair to assume that Spurs’ interest may not be helping West Ham as they look to reach an agreement with the midfielder.
