Antonio Conte is edging closer to becoming the new Tottenham manager this evening and he is already lining up a number of January additions as part of a spending splurge.

Reports throughout the day have claimed Conte is close to agreeing a deal become Nuno Santo’s successor. It comes just months after the Italian rejected Daniel Levy in the summer.

Conte has won five titles in his career. Four in Italy, and a Premier League with Chelsea. His appointment will be met with excitement and hope from Tottenham fans struggling to process the Santo appointment and subsequent sacking.

And in further good news for Spurs fans, it appears Conte is already plotting his January moves. According to SportMediaset, Conte wants to raid Serie A. As part of that raid, he wants to sign both Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic, and AC Milan midfielder, Franck Kessie.

The report claims that both are on Conte’s radar. Brozovic is a deal that could be done easily. His contract is up in the summer. Kessie, meanwhile, is being courted throughout Europe. Arsenal and Liverpool want him, and he is expected to be on the move.

But Tottenham, with Conte working with Fabio Paratici, will be confident of landing Serie A players.

This is more like it for Spurs and their supporters. Top players with genuine quality who can have an immediate impact on the first XI.

With Conte at the helm, it just has to happen. He demands success and demands players to help him bring that success. Brozovic and Kessie are both proven performers in Italy. At a glance, you’d have to say both are ideal for the PL.

Tottenham’s current squad will be wondering if they’re coming or going. But when January comes, some will certainly be making way for players like Brozovic and Kessie.
