Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last six months and Antonio Conte‘s arrival has only increased those rumours.
The new Spurs boss has raised the optimism in and around the club. He is a world-class manager, a proven winner and many believe that he is the man who can end Tottenham’s trophy drought in the very near future.
To achieve everything that Conte wants, he needs to be backed in the transfer window. January is never an easy time to get big deals done, but Fabio Paratici could well pull off a few really smart moves.
One such transfer would be McKennie from Juventus.
Conte thinks Tottenham-linked McKennie is the new Vidal
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, both Conte and Paratici really like McKennie. The latter was the one who brought him to Juventus from Schalke, initially on loan, but that was made permanent earlier this year.
The report claims that it was almost certain that McKennie would be sold in January, but things may have changed. Max Allegri has given him an important role in the side, which is why he could well be off the market.
However, the report points out that if anything is to happen in January, it will be from Tottenham. Paratici really likes him and Conte reportedly sees him as the ‘next Vidal,’ a player who thrived under him, first at Juventus and then at Inter Milan.

How much would McKennie cost Spurs?
Only last week, CalcioMercato revealed that McKennie will be on the market in the January transfer window and that Tottenham boss Conte could make the American his first Spurs signing.
The report claims that an offer of just £17 million could convince Juventus to let McKennie go in January. That is a bargain for Tottenham, but things may have changed now, if Gazzetta is to be believed.
The new report has not ruled out a January move but they have cast doubt on it. Juventus may well decide to keep hold of McKennie now, but if Spurs have an opportunity to sign the talented midfielder for something around £17 million, they should do everything they can to get a deal done.
