According to a report from Fanta Calcio, Fiorentina really want Arsenal to sign Dusan Vlahovic before the transfer window shuts this month.

It is no secret at this point that the Serbian is on top of Mikel Arteta’s wish list. Arsenal are in need of a new striker and Vlahovic, who is arguably the best player in Italy at the moment, would be a fantastic signing.

A number of reports have revealed that Arsenal are prepared to pay big money to land the talented striker. Lucas Torreira, who is currently on loan at Fiorentina, is also set to be used as a part of the deal.

However, the problem isn’t Fiorentina, it’s Vlahovic’s agents, who don’t really seem convinced about a switch to Arsenal.

Fiorentina want Torreira from Arsenal in a swap deal for Vlahovic

The report claims that Fiorentina are desperate to sign Torreira on a permanent deal. The Uruguayan has been fantastic for them in recent weeks and La Viola would love to have him.

The Italian outfit already have a clause inserted in his loan deal that gives them an option to sign him for £12.5 million. That can be triggered at the end of this season, but Fiorentina want to sign Torreira as a part of the deal that would see Vlahovic move to Arsenal, just so that they won’t have to pay for the midfielder out of their own funds in the summer.

That is a big boost for Arsenal, but the biggest problem are still his agents. Unless Edu Gaspar finds a way to convince the player and his camp, this move will not be possible, even though both clubs want it to happen.

TBR View:

Using Torreira as a part of the deal that would see Arsenal sign Vlahovic is the best option for both clubs. The Gunners get the star striker they want, Fiorentina get to own the Uruguayan without having to pay anything and the Italian outfit get a huge amount of money on top of that as well.

That makes this deal look straightforward, but it’s far from it. Arsenal have a lot of work to do before they can convince Vlahovic’s camp, but if they can pull it off, he would be a sensational addition to the squad.

BBC pundit Micah Richards has watched a lot of the Serbian and he believes Vlahovic is ‘lightining’ and his numbers are ‘ridiculous’. Arsenal could make a massive statement by signing him, but it will take a lot of money and effort to get this deal over the line before the end of this month.
