Report: Celtic may move for player at PL club after development, he’s won seven career trophies
Celtic could reportedly make a move for Southampton’s Fraser Forster after the development that he’s rejected a new contract at St Mary’s.
According to the Scottish Sun, the goalkeeper has turned down a fresh deal with the Premier League club. The Saints are trying to reduce his £100,000-a-week- plus wages down to around £70,000-a-week, but are having no luck in their negotiations.
The 33-year-old’s contract situation has alerted Celtic’s recruitment team, so a swoop for him could now gather pace.
The report states Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou is targeting the signing of a new shot-stopper during this window. This hardly comes as a surprise due to the inconsistency of Vasilis Barkas in net.
Forster, who’s previously had four separate spells as a Celtic player, is being lined up for a fifth time at Parkhead.
He’s won a total of seven trophies in his career, and all have been in a Celtic shirt.
Celtic could be signing upgrade in Forster
Forster will definitely be an improvement in the Celtic goal if he joins.
The 6ft 7in goalkeeper has proven his quality in the past, which is why this looks like a no-brainer.
He’s someone that will bring a calmness at the back because he will be trusted by the defence.
It’s clear that the Scottish giants need several additions to improve their XI, so they should go all out trying to raid Southampton for their quality shot-stopper.
