Report: Celtic just one step away from another signing, will cost best part of £3m
A report from The Record claims that Celtic are inches away from announcing a deal to sign right-back Aurelio Buta. The defender has been strongly linked with a move to Parkhead over the last few weeks. Now, the latest report claims there is just one issue to be sorted until a deal is done.
Buta, 24, has been in stunning form for Royal Antwerp in the three seasons he has been at the club. Clocking up 109 appearances for his club, the five-time Portugal under-20 international has caught Celtic’s attention. Last week, Buta was close to a move to Celtic.
A new report from The Record says Celtic are closing in on a move. But one issue remains to be sorted. A fee has been agreed, just below £3million, and the clubs remain in talks. The report states that ‘all is left to do’ is to agree personal terms. For Buta, this is unlikely to be a problem.
Buta close, but harsh on Celtic right-back Anthony Ralston?
Ralston, 22, has been used at right-back in Celtic’s first three games. Given Jeremie Frimpong is yet to be replaced, Jonjoe Kenny’s loan was not made permanent and Hatem Abd Elhamed has returned to Israel, Celtic need a right-back. But Ralston has come in, and has been excellent this term.
One of the only players to get pass marks during the two games against Midtjylland – Ralston did then score against Hearts. He deserves to continue playing and while Buta is likely to agree a move – Ralston at least deserves to be back-up, competition to Buta. Before, he was surplus to requirements.
