Report: Carlo Ancelotti loves Arsenal signing Gabriel Jesus

If Arsenal fans needed any further convincing of how much of a coup it was to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer, Mundo Deportivo has suggested that it was Carlo Ancelotti’s wish for Real Madrid to bring the striker in before his Emirates switch.

Jesus arguably has the potential to be one of the buys of the window in the Premier League. Arsenal spent £45 million to bring the Brazilian in from Manchester City.

His record at City was outstanding. However, he was never quite able to make himself the main man at the Etihad Stadium. And with that, he is now ready to help Mikel Arteta’s men try and take that next step in their development.

Obviously, City would have been disappointed to lose him. But his move to Arsenal may have also upset the most successful manager in Champions League history.

Reports previously noted that Real Madrid wanted Jesus. And it seems that it was Ancelotti driving their interest.

Mundo Deportivo reports that it was the Italian’s wish for Los Blancos to sign Jesus this summer as he loves the striker.

Arsenal leave Ancelotti disappointed with Gabriel Jesus move

In fairness to Arsenal, Jesus may well have still opted to move to the Emirates if Real Madrid had matched their bid.

The reason he has left Manchester City is to secure a regular starting spot. And with Karim Benzema playing as well as he ever has in the last few years, a move to the Bernabeu would hardly leave Jesus in a better position in the pecking order than if he remained at the Etihad Stadium.

Many Arsenal fans are already convinced that signing Jesus was a masterstroke. He is an ‘incredible‘ player heading into the peak of his career.

But seeing that Ancelotti was very keen to land the 25-year-old further highlights just how much of a game-changer a deal could be for the Gunners.
