Spurs and Aston Villa may be about to be beaten to the signature of Weston McKennie by a surprise club with Sky Sports reporting on their live transfer blog (31/8; 17:13) that Burnley are in talks to sign the Juventus midfielder.
McKennie has been linked with a host of Premier League sides during this window.

He was involved in the surprise defeat to Empoli this month. But it was reported earlier this week that the £26 million-rated midfielder may be sold before the deadline passes.
And that report noted that Spurs had made a move after selling Moussa Sissoko. Meanwhile, Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham have all apparently tabled bids for the 23-year-old this month.

It now seems that McKennie could indeed move to England before the deadline passes. But it may be a move that leaves Spurs, Everton, Villa and the Hammers all disappointed.
Sky Sports claims that Burnley have been offered the USMNT international. And it has been reported that they have opened talks about a potential loan.
McKennie would be a huge coup for Burnley amid Spurs and Aston Villa links
Admittedly, it looks to be too late for the likes of Spurs and Villa to make a move for McKennie in this window.
Perhaps they may yet be working on a surprise deal. But the lack of noises hint that he may not be on the radar this time for the remaining hours of this window.
However, the links with those clubs hint at what a coup it would be if Burnley manage to sign the youngster.
He is an excellent prospect, capable of playing in a variety of midfield roles.
So it may well be a deal that fans of Sean Dyche’s side will be desperately willing across the line in the final hours of the window.
