Leeds United will need to come up with £13.5m if they wish to keep themselves in the race to sign Maxwel Cornet, after Burnley had a bid of the same value accepted.
The Athletic have reported that the Clarets have come to terms with Lyon over a fee for Cornet. That fee is around £13.5m, and Cornet will now hold talks over personal terms with Sean Dyche’s side.
Leeds have been interested in Cornet throughout the summer. A month back, the club reportedly made a £10m bid for for the left-back. Since then, Marcelo Bielsa has signed Junior Firpo. But there has still be talk that Cornet could be remain a target.

But with Burnley now having a bid accepted, Victor Orta will need to move quickly if he wants to sign the 24-year-old.
Cornet, who is known for his attacking runs from full-back, can also play further forward as well. It was this which had appealed to Marcelo Bielsa.
And after yesterday’s hammering at Manchester United, Bielsa might just fancy another couple of additions before the window is shut.
Leeds can still gazump Burnley for Cornet
Without disrespect for Burnley, if Leeds did put the money up here and got permission to speak to Cornet, then there is a high chance he’d be tempted.
Elland Road with a full crowd is an enticing place to play football. So is the prospect of working under Marcelo Bielsa. Further, Leeds’ attacking style will suit Cornet down to the ground.
But, they need to be quick. And in fairness to Burnley, if they pull this one off, it will be quite the signing for the Lancashire outfit.
