Report: Brighton admirers of Ange Postecoglou; but Celtic exit unlikely

Brighton are admirers of Ange Postecoglou, but The Telegraph reports that the Celtic boss is not looking to leave Parkhead at this stage of his tenure.

The Seagulls are beginning their search for Graham Potter’s replacement following his departure for Chelsea this week.

It will surely be an appealing job for many. Brighton have made a brilliant start to the Premier League season. And they boast a really exciting squad.

The postponement of their next couple of fixtures has left the club with the opportunity to really take their time. And it does seem that a wishlist is starting to be put together.

The Telegraph reports that Kjetil Knutsen and Roberto De Zerbi are targets. Meanwhile, they are also said to be admirers of the work Postecoglou has done at Celtic.

The good news for Hoops fans is that it seems unlikely that the Australian will leave anytime soon. The Telegraph adds that he is not inclined to walk away at this point.

Brighton admirers of Postecoglou

Celtic fans will hardly be surprised to see Postecoglou’s name in the frame when it comes to Premier League jobs. He has been an inspired appointment for the Bhoys.

He led Celtic back to the Scottish Premiership title last season, and with that, a Champions League return. And of course, the Hoops more than held their own for much of their tie against Real Madrid this week.

Reports have previously suggested that the Manchester City hierarchy have been impressed with Postecoglou. So obviously, a club such as Brighton will consider his name.

Brendan Rodgers’ departure for Leicester may leave some Celtic fans feeling a little nervy about Postecoglou – who Rodgers once labelled ‘outstanding‘.

But it does seem that the Hoops boss feels that he has a lot more to do before moving on from Parkhead.
