Report: 'Breathtaking' PL player's head has been turned after Tottenham links, he's now thinking about leaving
Newcastle United trickster Allan Saint-Maximin’s head has been turned amid transfer interest from Tottenham.
The Daily Mail report that the prospect of a higher salary elsewhere has got the Frenchman thinking of leaving St James’ Park.
The wideman has been hailed as ‘breathtaking’ by former Manchester United captain Gary Neville as per the Shields Gazette.
Not so long ago, he was the main source of hope in Steve Bruce’s Magpies side.
Saint-Maximin’s head turned amid Tottenham links
Now it is being reported that Newcastle are considering him a player they could sell this summer to balance the books on their spending plans.
And he has interest from Tottenham and Chelsea, both of whom can offer Champions League football next season.
But they baulked at the asking price of over £40 million, but having the London duo sniffing around has caught Saint-Maximin’s attention.
And now he is considering his options as he embarks on contract talks at St James’ Park.
Ultimately, if nobody comes in and pays the money that Newcastle are looking for for Saint-Maximin, then he will seemingly be going nowhere.
But the report says that Newcastle are hamstrung by the wage structure they have put in place when it comes to offering the Frenchman the kind of salary he wants.
It now depends how much fuss Saint-Maximin wants to make over leaving Tyneside, amid the exciting developments since the takeover, which have seemingly also made him a player Newcastle would sell at the right price.
