Trippier backed Saint-Maximin for Ballon d'Or; Tottenham now want him
Reports claim that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Allan Saint-Maximin this summer, with Fabio Paratici a massive fan of the Newcastle United star.
Saint-Maximin has been a fan favourite throughout his time on Tyneside. And without him, the Magpies would have surely been in big, big trouble in the years before the new owners came in.
There is an argument that Saint-Maximin has not been as productive as a man with his talent should be. He has scored 12 goals in 93 games for Newcastle. Meanwhile, he has just 16 assists.

But you can certainly see why Tottenham would be interested. If Antonio Conte can unlock his full potential, Tottenham could have an unbelievable talent on their hands.
Certainly, one player who believes that he could reach the very top of the game is Kieran Trippier. The former Spurs man outlined just how unique a talent Saint-Maximin is, while he also backed the Frenchman for the biggest individual prize in world football.
“Honestly, I’ve never seen anything like him before,” he told The True Geordie Podcast.
“He has that magic where he can just make anything happen. Even I don’t know what he’s going to do with the ball, and he doesn’t want to change that.
“I’ve spoken to him and he’s saying to me he wants to win the Ballon d’Or and play for his national side, and he will reach that. He’s a quality player.”
Tottenham want Allan Saint-Maximin
Tottenham fans have already seen the kind of impact Antonio Conte can have on players. Eric Dier and Ben Davies have almost been transformed during his tenure.
Meanwhile, he has quickly got the best out of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, amongst others.
So it would be incredibly exciting to see what he could get out of Saint-Maximin. He looks to have many of the tools to be one of the best players in the Premier League.
If it clicks, it really could be an inspired signing for Tottenham to bring the 25-year-old in.
