Report: Benitez eyeing £30m PL striker Ancelotti wanted at Everton in May; he's 'considering all' options
Everton remain one of the sides interested in signing Danny Ings this summer with 90min reporting that they are battling the likes of Spurs and West Ham for the striker’s signature.
Ings is not a new name to the Toffees’ radar. It was reported back in May that the club were looking at the Southampton talisman.
But of course, much has changed at Goodison Park since then. Carlo Ancelotti has since departed. And he has been replaced by Rafa Benitez.
But despite the change, Ings remains an Everton target. According to 90min, both Manchester clubs, Spurs and the Irons also want the 28-year-old.
Ings has reportedly set his sights on joining one of the big six. However, 90min adds that he is planning to consider all of his options.
Of course, much will depend on what offers the Saints receive. Ings’s contract expires next summer. So clubs may be wary of paying big money for the former Liverpool man.
Previous reports claimed that he could cost £30 million. And Southampton will be aware that selling him for much less would make little sense given how much replacing him would cost.
Everton may have plenty of money to address striker depth and perhaps pursue Ings
Everton have been incredibly shrewd so far this summer. Andros Townsend arrived on a free transfer. Asmir Begovic has come in as cover for Jordan Pickford.
And they look to be closing in on a deal for Demarai Gray that could cost the grand sum of £1.7 million.
So they may find themselves with plenty of funds to address other areas of the squad in the remaining weeks of the window.
Of course, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form hints that they may not need to prioritise signing a new striker.
But Ings has scored 34 Premier League goals across the last two campaigns. So perhaps they may now be tempted to test the Saints’ resolve.
