Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Darwin Nunez, with ESPN reporting that Benfica do not plan to consider anything less than £110 million for the striker this summer.
Nunez continues to be one of the most highly sought-after strikers playing in Europe. And he has been linked with a raft of heavyweights.

Nunez has scored 33 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions. Unsurprisingly, Benfica want a big fee for the 22-year-old in the coming months.
Previous reports had claimed that the Portuguese side value Nunez at around £65 million. And they had told him that he could move on in the next window.

However, perhaps it may actually be a lot more difficult for clubs to lure him away. ESPN is now reporting that Benfica will not enter into talks unless they receive a bid of at least £110 million (€130 million).
That will certainly alert a club such as Arsenal. Reports have suggested that Edu has already held talks with his agent about a move.
Arsenal target Darwin Nunez surely going nowhere if Benfica dig heels in over £110 million asking price
Based on Nunez’s form this season, there may well be a host of clubs willing to break their transfer record to get him. However, the idea of paying £110 million will put many off.
Arsenal need reinforcements in a few areas. In fact, it would be a surprise if they only signed one striker. So spending £110 million on one new goalscorer would be a gamble as it may not leave a lot in the kitty for other areas.
He is a ‘world-class‘ forward with an unbelievable record this season. But it is surely too soon for Nunez to command such an eye-watering fee.
