Report: Barcelona believe Arsenal are interested in Ruben Neves
Neves’ future at Molineux looks set to be a key talking point over the coming months. The Sunday Mirror notes that the Portuguese is out of contract in 2024 and yet to sign an extension.
Wolves value the 25-year-old at £50 million. And Barcelona are hoping to negotiate a deal for him next summer. They hope to either agree a lower price, or include some of their younger players in the bid for the midfielder. He is their number one target in the middle of the park.

However, they may not have a clear run to his signature. According to the Sunday Mirror (2/10; page 78), Barca believe that Arsenal would also be keen on signing Neves.
Gunners’ progress leaves Barca facing a nervy wait
Arsenal being linked with Neves is nothing new. The Mirror reported in the summer that the Catalan giants were hopeful of beating the Gunners to his signature in this past window.
Mikel Arteta’s side probably do need greater depth in midfield. And Neves has established himself of the best midfielders in the Premier League over the last few years.
His contract situation also opens the door for a potential bargain piece of business. Much will depend on whether Wolves are willing to compromise on his asking price.
The concern is that Neves appears to have his heart set on moving to Camp Nou. Reports from Sport this week claimed that the former Porto star rejected both Liverpool and Manchester United in the summer because he wants to join Barca next year.
He was aware during the window that Xavi’s side could not afford him in the last few months. But he is apparently prepared to wait.
Having said that, Arsenal appear to be on an amazing trajectory right now. Of course, they lead the way in the Premier League. And they made a real statement with their North London derby victory on Saturday.
Should they remain there or thereabouts come the end of the campaign, Neves – who is a ‘sensational‘ talent – would surely be foolish not to seriously consider a move to the Emirates if the Gunners come calling.
