Atletico Madrid hope to beat the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona to the signature of Max Aarons, with the Sunday Mirror (18/7; page 83) reporting that Diego Simeone’s men could look to pay £25 million for the right-back.

The report suggests that Atletico are particularly keen. They reportedly plan to prioritise a deal should Kieran Trippier leave the Spanish capital this summer.

And according to the Sunday Mirror (18/7; page 83), they hope to pay around £25 million for the 21-year-old.

Arsenal must act in Max Aarons race as Bellerin reportedly nears Emirates exit

As things stand, Mikel Arteta does not need to strengthen his right-back options. However, that situation may soon change.

Hector Bellerin’s representatives are reportedly in talks with a host of clubs – including Atletico.

The 26-year-old has apparently decided that he wishes to leave, so the reports on Aarons should prompt Arsenal to act.

Aarons looks to be an amazing talent. And the queue of admirers tells you everything about his potential.

With Bellerin’s exit on the cards, it surely makes sense to set the wheels into motion and make a move for Aarons.

They may well kick themselves if he gets the chance to move to the Spanish capital this summer.
