Atletico Madrid have approached Tottenham about a loan deal for Emerson Royal which includes an option to buy, but The Times reports that Spurs would prefer to offload the Brazilian permanently.
Royal’s future in North London has been uncertain for some time. Obviously, much of his first season with the club proved to be a disappointment.

However, he ended the campaign with confidence and some good form. Antonio Conte himself previously noted that he had made a big improvement.
On the other hand, Spurs are working on a deal for Djed Spence. And with that, it seems that Royal could leave Tottenham.

Reports this week claimed that Atletico Madrid’s bid to sign the 23-year-old had moved forward. The full-back had been identified as their top target for that position.
And it seems that Diego Simeone’s men have now made an offer. The Times reports that Atleti have approached Spurs about a loan deal with an option to buy.
Tottenham meanwhile, want a permanent sale. The Times notes that they paid £26 million to sign Royal from Barcelona.
Atletico have approached Tottenham about Emerson Royal loan
Spurs may be in a difficult position when it comes to Royal. His stock has fallen since his move to Tottenham. And with that, it is hard to see a club offering the amount that they would want for him.
So if it does not impact their summer plans too much, perhaps Tottenham should be open to an initial loan deal.
Royal has the potential to be an ‘amazing‘ player. And he shone in La Liga before his move, with Barca signing him outright off the back of his spell with Real Betis.
So his value could be much higher after a year back in Spain.
