Report: Aston Villa sign Spurs target Caleb Chukwuemeka
Aston Villa look to have seen off competition from Spurs for the signature of Caleb Chukwuemeka with the Northampton Chronicle and Echo reporting that the 19-year-old has joined the Villans for an initial £300,000.
Chukwuemeka was described by the Sunday Mirror as the most wanted teenager in League Two at the weekend.
In their report, they noted that Villa, Spurs and Rangers were all admirers of the forward.
It seemed that the Villans may be in a strong position. The forward’s younger brother Carney is already at the club.
And it now seems that Dean Smith’s side have indeed won the race.
The Chron reports that a deal has now gone through. Chukwuemeka will join Villa for an initial £300,000. But the total cost of the deal could surpass £1 million.
Aston Villa move for Chukwuemeka looks a smart decision
Villa obviously suffered defeat in their opening game of the new campaign. But there was one reason for supporters to get excited.
Smith named three academy graduates on the bench at Watford. Amongst them was Chukwuemeka’s brother.
Jacob Ramsey came off the bench at the break at Vicarage Road. And the trio involved are not the only names to look out for either.
So moving to Villa could be an extremely smart decision for the starlet – despite interest from Spurs and Rangers.
