Report: Aston Villa now the most likely side to end up signing 'heroic' player on deadline day
Aston Villa are in a race against time to improve their defence before the transfer window shuts tonight.
The Polish international will bring plenty of Premier League experience with him to Villa Park.
He’s also got a World Cup on the horizon to motivate his performances.
The centre-back merry-go-round can begin once Southampton secure a deal for Duje Caleta-Car from Marseille.
Villa most likely club to sign Bednarek
The 26-year-old is a sensible signing for Steven Gerrard’s side.
He’s been praised in the past for his ‘heroic’ performances, and will need to start delivering those quickly at Villa Park.
It’s been a tough start to the season for Villa, winning only one of their first five league games.
They’ve also lost talismanic centre-back Diego Carlos to a long-term injury.
This has forced them to enter the market for a defender again and Bednarek appears to be the player to fill that role.
As with any deadline day, plenty can change in the final hours of the window.
Aston Villa are still looking to potentially make other signings, and have made a late approach for a former target.
Villa now looks like the most likely club to sign Bednarek, and Gerrard will be relieved once the move is confirmed.
