Report: Aston Villa join Liverpool in pursuit of Bournemouth’s Arnaut Danjuma

Aston Villa could move to challenge Liverpool when it comes to the signing of Bournemouth winger, Arnaut Danjuma, according to the Daily Star.

Danjuma has attracted attention thanks to a fine season with the Cherries last season in which he scored 17 goals. And while those goals came at Championship level, he has been given caps by the Netherlands thanks to that form.

Villa and Liverpool keen

Liverpool are known to be interested in the Dutchman. Reports just this week claimed the Reds were keeping tabs on Danjuma, as Jurgen Klopp considers improving his squad further before the end of August.

But the Daily Star has named Aston Villa as a potential suitor as well. This, despite the Villans landing the likes of Leon Bailey and Danny Ings in recent days.

Danjuma is known to be open to moving away from Bournemouth. The 24-year-old has made no secret of his desire to get back to the top flight.

Pace and goals

Villa CEO, Christian Purslow, admitted in midweek that Villa’s strategy to replace Jack Grealish was to fill the void with a number of new signings.

They’ve added goals, assists, and attacking threat in Buendia, Ings, and Bailey. However, Danjuma is another who can bring even more to the attacking side of things.

Capable on either wing, or even down the middle, Danjuma certainly excelled at Bournemouth in fairness to him.

Should Villa choose to make their move, then, it’s hard to see Danjuma turning down the chance to play Premier League football.
