Report: Aston Villa interested in transfer for Arsenal's Smith Rowe
Aston Villa are targeting a transfer of Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe, according to The Telegraph.
The publication are claiming that the Villains are targeting the attacking midfielder, who is yet to sign an extension.
His current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023. However, the Gunners are keen on tying down the ace to a new deal.
The Hale End academy star isn’t the only number 10 on the Villains’ radar. Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia is also thought to be a target.
Smith Rowe enjoyed a brilliant start to life in senior football last season. After breaking through into the first team, he racked up 11 goals and assists.
TBR View: Arsenal would be stupid to let the ace leave, whilst Villa would acquire a top talent
The transfer seems a long way from happening. However, weirder things have happened in football.
Remember when Championship Wolves signed Porto’s youngest ever Champions League player.
Smith Rowe is one of Arteta’s key men moving forward and a priceless asset. A potential transfer away from the club is almost inconceivable.
His eye for a pass and movement on and off the ball saw him shine under the Spaniard. The performance away to West Bromwich Albion sent shivers down the spine of most supporters.
Martin Keown claimed his youthful exuberance was the reason he was being picked ahead of senior stars last campaign.
Smith Rowe proves far too crucial to let go this summer. A new contract extension should be a formality for Arteta’s side. But, should Arsenal fail, Aston Villa would snap up the transfer of an elite talent in Smith Rowe.
