Newcastle United and Arsenal’s Joe Willock are reportedly a distance apart when it comes to agreeing personal terms.

What’s the story?

News earlier in the week broke in The Athletic that the Geordies had agreed on a deal with Arsenal for the ace.

The Gunners and the Magpies allegedly came to an agreement over a price in excess of £20m for the 21-year-old.

Given the hearty relationship between Willock and Steve Bruce, you imagined personal terms would sort themselves. But that could not be further from the truth.

According to Sky Sports, Bruce’s team are struggling to reach an agreement. In any case, the side still expects to sign the central midfielder before their opener this weekend.

Willock has been Newcastle’s number one target all summer long, but, it seems there is still a big hurdle to clear.

Summer plans in doubt

This would have been the worst-case scenario imagined by the Londoners’ transfer committee.

Arsenal’s summer plans have been thrown into doubts as Willock reportedly struggles to agree on personal terms.

The only reason the club are being forced into selling the player is due to the tempting transfer fee.

It is something that will go a long way to covering a few extra incomings in the final weeks of the window. But, you would imagine if the Gunners struggle to clear the decks, incomings will not be possible in what remains of the transfer window.
