Arsenal are still stalling on a deal involving Joe Willock and Arsenal, with the Gunners yet to issue a response to the Magpies over the midfielder.
Steve Bruce is desperate to bring Willock back to the northeast. His form last season was outstanding, as his run of goals helped Newcastle finish the season with relative ease and clear of the bottom three.
A bid this week of around £25m was said to have been accepted by Arsenal, with Newcastle thinking they’d got their man.

However, The Chronicle has now reported that isn’t the case at all. Indeed, they claim that Newcastle have had no such response, and that Steve Bruce may yet pull the plug if there isn’t movement soon.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has also been unclear when it comes to Willock at times. He’s insisted in interviews he is an Arsenal player, while at other times has hinted he could be allowed to leave again.
With just a week until the season kicks off, Newcastle will want an answer sooner, rather than later.
Willock leaving Arsenal surely inevitable
Newcastle want Willock, while Arsenal just seem to be playing games here a bit.
Could it be, then, that Willock might even look to force the issue a bit if Arsenal continue to stall and wait around? It’s not the most outrageous claim.
Unless Mikel Arteta is categorically going to say that Willock will play and play regularly, then really, the midfielder needs to go. Further, Arsenal need to sell, so why they’re hanging on when there’s apparently good money on the table, is somewhat baffling.
