Report: Arsenal willing to improve Arthur offer, and player would accept

Arsenal are now willing to increase their offer for Arthur Melo, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the Gunners are now prepared to take the Juventus midfielder on an 18-month loan.

Arthur has looked to be the top name on the wishlist as Arsenal look to sign a new midfielder during the January transfer window. However, finding an agreement has been problematic.

It was suggested that they had met with his agent for talks. And they had been told that offering to take Arthur on an 18-month loan that includes an option to buy would likely be accepted by Juventus.

Gazzetta dello Sport is now claiming that Arsenal are prepared to improve their bid for Arthur. The Gunners are now ready to offer an 18-month loan deal. And it is claimed that Arthur would accept with pleasure.

However, there are still hurdles to clear. The report adds that Juve are not happy to let the 25-year-old leave until they have a replacement through the door.

Clearly, the Old Lady are running out of time to find a replacement. But Arsenal will hope that that is not the end of the matter. He is a player Thomas Vermaelen previously labelled as ‘incredible‘.

Should Arthur make it clear that he wishes to go, Juve will surely have to consider making a signing. The player is keen to go. And Arsenal will feel that they have made an acceptable offer.

Arsenal fans likely to be frustrated as Arthur pursuit drags on

The frustration for Arsenal fans may well be that Juventus have needed a replacement throughout the month. And with that, Mikel Arteta’s men could have perhaps stepped up their efforts to land alternative targets.

There is still time. They have also been linked with Bruno Guimarães. And reports on Tuesday claimed that they were yet to give up on signing the Lyon star.

But it does appear that their main hope is that Juve do indeed find a replacement for Arthur.
