Report: Arsenal will make fresh bid to sign 'fabulous' attacker this summer, despite player wanting Spurs move

Arsenal are set to renew their interest in signing Inter Milan striker, Lautaro Martinez, according to reports this weekend.

The Times claims that the Gunners are ready to make a fresh attempt to sign Martinez this summer, 12 months on from when they tried initially in 2021. Of course, interest in Martinez is high, and the player himself is even said to be open to a move to Tottenham.

However, with Arsenal holding the upper hand as it stands in the race for the Champions League, the Gunners might feel they have a chance to tempt Martinez to The Emirates. The Times claims the Gunners will ramp up their interest in Martinez as they seek out a new number nine. As is already known, Gabriel Jesus and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also feature on their list.

Martinez has enjoyed another stellar campaign with Inter this season. The Milan club are in a straight fight with AC to win the Serie A title, and Martinez has been vital in that run.

Hailed as a ‘fabulous’ striker by Rio Ferdinand, Martinez has been one of the most sought-after names in Europe for some time now.

Arsenal, meanwhile, face off with Tottenham next week in what could be a deciding game in the top four race.

TBR’s View: Lautaro Martinez Would Set Tongues Wagging At Arsenal

You get the feeling that Arsenal fans would use a phrase like ‘now we’re talking’ if they were to land Martinez.

He is one of the best strikers in Europe at the moment and he has potential to get even better, which is something Mikel Arteta will be a big fan of. His goals with Inter speak volumes, and it’s little wonder he tops the list of clubs.

If the Gunners do get top four and then add Lautaro, then they could well push even closer to the PL summit next term.
