Arsenal are very keen on signing Orkun Kokcu as he continues to enjoy another superb campaign in The Netherlands, according to Ziggo Sport.

Kokcu has been outstanding for Feyenoord. He has scored five goals and contributed seven assists in the Eredivisie this term. No central midfielder has managed more so far.

Kokcu has been on the Arsenal radar for some time, it seems. But the Gunners remain interested in the 21-year-old.

Ziggo Sport reports that Mikel Arteta is very keen on signing the Turkey international. But Dutch legend Marco van Basten has urged Kokcu to stay with Feyenoord until the end of next season.

Interestingly, Kokcu was backed for a big-money move this month. Former Feyenoord player Ali Boussaboun suggested that he could reach an extremely high level.

In fact, he even claimed that he would suit a side like Arsenal. And he suggested that his valuation could reach £50 million.

Of course, Feyenoord may have other ideas.

Kokcu could be the answer as Arsenal set sights on midfield signings

Arsenal certainly need to strengthen their midfield options in the summer. Arteta had real problems in January when injuries, suspensions and international duty ruled several players out.

And it does appear that they need greater quality. Thomas Partey has shown glimpses, and Albert Sambi Lokonga looks a bright prospect. And Arsenal fans know exactly what they will get from Granit Xhaka.

Signing Kokcu could be seen as risky. It is a jump from the Eredivisie to the Premier League. And he has been heavily criticised by Rafael van der Vaart for being too arrogant.

But it is incredibly encouraging that he is making such a big impact at this stage of his career. It has been suggested that ‘he can do anything’ with the ball.

And it will be interesting to see if Reiss Nelson plays any role in potential negotiations. The 22-year-old is currently on loan with the Dutch side.

The young winger is yet to really get going with only three starts in the top-flight. But Arsenal would surely be wise to put a swap deal on the table in their bid to sign Kokcu.
