Arsenal are set to advance in their pursuit of Brighton midfielder, Yves Bissouma, according to a report from 90Min.com today.

That report claims that the Gunners are ready to press on with their move for Bissouma, who Mikel Arteta has tracked for some time.

As covered by TBR a week ago, Brighton are preparing for Bissouma to leave the club. The Mali international has attracted admiring glances from Arsenal, as well as Liverpool.

The Gunners are desperate for new players this summer. The club are said to be close to agreeing a deal to see Granit Xhaka leave. The Swiss star is set to sign for Roma, barring any last minute hiccups.

Bissouma, meanwhile, was hugely impressive for Brighton last season under Graham Potter. Indeed, Potter labelled his midfielder as having ‘breathtaking’ ability.

“He always had these incredibly high, top-end actions that are breathtaking. He has certainly improved this season. The really exciting thing for Yves is he can improve some more”, Potter said.

Arsenal fans, then, can be pretty excited about the chance of landing Bissouma.

Bissouma to Arsenal makes so much sense – he is perfect for the Gunners

Of all the names linked to Arsenal already this summer, Bissouma was the one who stood out.

He has everything Arsenal need in midfield. Good with the ball, with a great engine, and capable of sticking the boot in if needed. It’s safe to say the Mali man is quite the talent.

Arsenal and Arteta needed that ideal partner for Thomas Partey. In Bissouma, they might just have it. A £30-40m fee is likely to be needed.

But overall, that is smart business. Bissouma knows the Premier League already so there is no bedding in period needed. And his good footballing education at Brighton will stand him in good stead.

This is a fine deal for Arsenal, if they can see it through.
