Report: Arsenal to hold talks with 'mind-blowing' Gunners youth international when he returns from holiday
Arsenal will hold talks with Joe Willock over his future when the midfielder returns from holiday, according to The Athletic.
The move will be undertaken to discuss the England youth international’s role at the club.
Willock had a stunning half-season loan spell with Newcastle United last term, scoring in seven successive Premier League games.
However, there was still speculation surrounding his future with the north Londoners. Reports from back in May claimed that the 6 foot 1 Englishman could be available for £30m.
Arsenal look to be heading for wholesale changes in central midfield. As well as Willock, Granit Xhaka has also be linked with an exit. The Switzerland international is reportedly closing in on a move to AS Roma.
Mikel Arteta labelled Willock ‘mind-blowing‘.
TBR View: Arsenal must decide the future of Willock soon
The future of Willock must be sorted out sooner rather than later by Arsenal.
Big, gaping holes are appearing in the north London giants’ midfield. Dani Ceballos returned to Real Madrid following his loan spell, and as mentioned before, Xhaka is off to Serie A.
And should Willock leave, it would leave just Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny as the only midfield options.
Albert Sambi Lokonga has been linked with to move to Arsenal, however, at 21-year-old is wholly inexperienced.
Starting the season with just two midfielders would be a poor decision from Arsenal.
