Report: Arsenal think 'phenomenal' player will be available on Boxing Day, Mikel Arteta could pick him to start
The Gunners have been preparing for the return of the Premier League in their mid-season tour of Dubai.
Arteta’s men beat Lyon 3-0 last week and picked up another win yesterday as they defeated the Italian champions AC Milan 2-1.
Arsenal are set for one more friendly against Juventus on Saturday before all eyes will be on their return to Premier League action.
Of course, the Gunners were handed a blow during the World Cup as Gabriel Jesus picked up a knee injury while playing for Brazil. The 25-year-old could be out for around three months but Arteta may be given some more positive injury news on Zinchenko.
Arsenal think Zinchenko will be available
Football.London reports that Arteta’s squad could be bolstered by the return of Zinchenko and he was pictured at yesterday’s game against Milan.
The Ukrainian full-back is currently recovering from muscle tightness but the outlet understands that the Gunners are confident he will be available for the clash against West Ham on Boxing Day.
Zinchenko has looked ‘phenomenal’ for Arsenal when he’s been available this season but has struggled with injuries since he made the switch from Manchester City.
The 25-year-old has already missed 11 games this season and only made nine appearances for the Gunners.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has stepped in brilliantly at left-back in Zinchenko’s absence but Arteta will be hoping the former City man can avoid picking up any more injuries over the second-half of the campaign.
Zinchenko has been unfortunate in the early stages of his Arsenal career but will be hoping to feature against West Ham in 12 days time.
He’s slotted into Arsenal’s side seamlessly when he’s been available but he will be desperate to get a consistent run of games under his belt after the World Cup.
