Arsenal are discussing an initial £6 million move for Nuno Tavares, according to the Daily Mail, despite Benfica valuing the youngster at more than double that figure.
Tavares is wanted by the Gunners as they consider signing cover for Kieran Tierney.

The 21-year-old is predominantly a left-back. But he also featured at right-back and further up the left flank for the Portuguese side last season.
The Daily Mail reports that talks are continuing between the two clubs. But interestingly, it is suggested that Arsenal want to pay a £6 million fee.

Benfica meanwhile, value Tavares at closer to £15 million. The Mail claims that Arsenal hope to make up any difference in bonus payments.
Move for Nuno Tavares could be another step in right direction for Arsenal
It appears that Mikel Arteta is leaving no stone unturned in his overhaul of the current squad.
Left-back did not appear to be a priority. That is even with the problems they endured last season.
The likes of Sead Kolasinac, Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles could play there. Granit Xhaka, of course, filled in at times last season.
Admittedly, there are doubts over the futures of players such as Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles and Xhaka. But they are still likely to have cover for Tierney in the current squad.
So signing Tavares would be an exciting statement of intent. It was not too long ago that he was being linked with a £25 million move.
Arsenal may be about to get him for a lot less.
