Arsenal still want to sign Ruben Neves this summer, despite a deal for Albert Lokonga edging ever closer to being completed.
The Gunners are being super-active in the transfer market this summer already. They are being linked with a host of players, with Mikel Arteta keen to overhaul his squad.
A deal for Anderlecth’s Lokonga is thought to be close. The Athletic reports that close links to Belgium have allowed Arteta to hone in on the midfielder.

However, that might not be the end of the Gunners’ business in midfield.
Per the same report from The Athletic, it’s claimed that Wolves midfielder, Ruben Neves, remains an option for the Gunners. The Portuguese international has been linked for a while. Indeed, a report at the beginning of June suggested a bid from imminent from Arsenal.
Neves, 24, has 22 caps for his country and has long been seen as a player who will move on from Wolves. Manchester United have tracked him before, while Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp lauded him as ‘terrific’ back in 2020.
It seems, then, that Arsenal are not done with their spending. In fact, it looks like it’s only just getting going for the Gunners.
Arsenal want Ruben Neves and it makes all kind of sense
We’ve all watched Neves grow with Wolves but at 24, you’d think the time is now to move on. Especially, with Nuno Santo having left Molineux.
It seems to be a natural opening for Neves to leave and in fairness, Arsenal would be a good fit. They seem serious about overhauling the squad and competing, so Neves would have a chance at success.
He’s known for scoring the spectacular as well. That, of course, is something Arsenal fans could get right behind.
With so many names linked, it will be interesting to see who Arteta plumps for in the end. But Neves is a good player, and would slot in nicely.
