Arsenal fans react as reports claim Ruben Neves bid is imminent
Arsenal will make their first move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves later this week, according to a report by The Telegraph, and supporters have been reacting on Twitter.
The Gunners are eyeing the Portugal player as a replacement for Granit Xhaka who is closing on a move to Roma.
Neves has been with Wolves for four years. It is claimed in the report that the player is keen to leave Molineux this summer for a new challenge.
The 24-year-old has been in the West Midlands for four years. He helped the club into the top-flight and has helped them establish as a Premier League outfit.
Mikel Arteta has been a big fan of Neves for many years. Manchester City tried to sign him when the Spaniard was the assistant manager at the Etihad Stadium.
The man with 20 caps for his country won’t come cheap. Wolves are hoping to recoup £40 million for the player if he leaves this summer and as a result, there is work to do on a deal.
Arsenal will go in search of reinforcements this window. They finished eighth last season and know that won’t do during 2021/22.
Neves to Arsenal: Arsenal supporters not keen
It’s fair to say that the Gunners faithful are not overly fussed on completing a deal for Neves.
Some think he would be a decent signing but plenty of others aren’t overly fussed given his price tag.
It’s certainly an interesting debate which has been thrown up and the discussion over the Wolves man is rife.
The £50,000-a-week marvel is clearly a talented player though and with that in mind, perhaps Arsenal fans need to stop being so fussy.
They aren’t in Europe next season and it’s fair to say Neves has potential in bucket loads.
Despite that, Arsenal fans are up in arms at the fact the club is set to pursue a big-money deal for the Wolves man.
