Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Fabian Ruiz, with the Daily Mirror reporting that representatives from the club have met with his agents to learn what demands the Napoli midfielder has.

Fabian may well end up leaving Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer. Napoli reportedly need to move players on to balance the books. And the Spain international is approaching the final year of his contract having rejected fresh terms.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Serie A side want £16 million plus add-ons for the 25-year-old this summer. But he is wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Newcastle were linked with the midfielder earlier this week.

It would appear that Arsenal have attempted to steal a march on their rivals.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners have now met with his representatives. They wanted to learn what demands Fabian will have from his next club.

The Mirror adds that he is looking for a four-year deal.

Arsenal must capitalise on Fabian Ruiz situation and get move done this summer

Fabian has been superb for Napoli this year. He has scored five goals and contributed three assists in Serie A. He is also 13th in the Italian top-flight when it comes to progressive passes, having brought up a century (according to FB Ref).

Players with that sort of ability do not tend to come onto the market for an initial £16 million. Quique Setien described him as ‘spectacular‘ in the past. So Arsenal must capitalise and step up their pursuit of Fabian.

It may not be easy. Reports claimed that he is dreaming of joining either Real Madrid or Barcelona. And both clubs are admirers of the Spain international.

But Arsenal must strengthen in midfield this summer. They can offer Fabian a key role in the middle of the park.

Perhaps knowing what it will take to sign Fabian will help Arsenal spring a surprise in the summer.
