Report: Arsenal star Willian sees Inter Miami move fall through
Arsenal will have to find another club if they hope to offload Willian this summer, with The Sun reporting that his wage demands have put paid to a potential move to Inter Miami.
Unfortunately, it would be a big boost for the Gunners if they offloaded the attacking midfielder.
The 32-year-old endured a miserable first season at the Emirates. He actually began the campaign with two assists in their opening game.
However, he only managed three more assists. His only goal came in his last appearance of the campaign, against strugglers West Brom.
Despite his struggles, he was attracting interest. According to The Sun, Inter Miami wanted to offer a designated player spot to Willian.
However, it now looks unlikely that the attacking midfielder will be heading to Major League Soccer.
According to The Sun, he wanted £167,000-a-week. That would have seen him pocket more than double what Gonzalo Higuain earns. The striker is their current top earner.
Huge blow if Arsenal cannot move Willian on
Arsenal look to be working their way through quite the overhaul of the squad. So it would be a blow if they cannot move some of their more disappointing performers on.
Willian is one of the highest earners at the Emirates. According to Spotrac, he is on over £192,000-a-week.
He clearly offers some quality. But he has been such an underwhelming signing since arriving from Chelsea.
It would therefore, do Arsenal few favours if Willian stayed.
Unfortunately, one avenue out of North London looks to have now been closed off.
