Willian reportedly wants Chelsea return after just one year with Arsenal
Willian is reportedly keen to return to former club Chelsea a year after leaving to join Arsenal.
According to Sky Sports News, the Brazilian international may have played his last game for Arsenal, and that a return to Chelsea is Willian’s ideal destination.
MLS franchise Inter Miami are also claimed to be interested in the 32-year-old as per the report.
Willian has endured a tough first season with Arsenal. The former Chelsea star struggled for form and has faced criticism from both fans and pundits. Yet the attacker did have some bright sparks for the Gunners.
The winger bagged two assists on his debut against Fulham, and Mikel Arteta hailed Willian as ‘the game changer’ via One Football in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Benfica in the UEFA Europa League.
TBR View: Arsenal should prefer overseas transfer for Willian over Chelsea return
There are no two ways about it. Willian has so far been a financial and footballing nightmare for Arsenal since arriving last year from Chelsea.
With a weekly wage of £220,000 as reported by the Daily Mail and just one goal in all competitions, the Brazilian winger has been a disastrous signing for the Gunners.
And yet, Arsenal should be aiming to sell Willian to a club away from the Premier League. Even though the winger has disappointed during his time in north London, the Brazilian can still produce moments of quality.
And the Gunners could be made to pay should they decide to sell the veteran attacker to an English rival, who could get the best out of the South American international.
