Report: Arsenal set to receive £250k compensation from Malen sale

Arsenal are set to receive £250k from PSV’s sale of Donyell Malen to Borussia Dortmund.

Football.london have learned the Gunners will receive 1% of the final fee paid by the Germans to the Dutch side.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the ace has agreed on personal terms with the Bundesliga outfit over a move. He will sign a deal until June 2026.

The transfer is said to be in the final stages with the two clubs completing the final details.

Arsenal sold Malen to PSV during the summer of 2017 for just £250k. However, the Dutch club has now agreed on a £25m fee over a sale of the 22-year-old according to football.london.

Malen sale shows how bad Arsenal conduct transfer business

The sale of Malen highlights just how badly Arsenal conduct their transfer business.

Selling the talented Dutchman for a mere £250k back in 2017 felt like a terrible call back then.

Despite never making it to the first team, Malen showed promise during his time with the Gunners. The forward scored 18 times in 45 appearances for the under-23s and under-18s.

However, the move is bordering on one of the worst decisions made by Arsenal, level with their sale of Serge Gnabry.

The real issue here seems to be failing to spot the talent in the Netherlands international.

£250k is a pitiful fee to fetch for a talented player, but that is the price paid for making the wrong call.
