Report: Arsenal now want to sign 'amazing' Argentinian World Cup winner, Jack Wilshere loves him
Arsenal have now been linked with a swoop for Argentinian World Cup winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister’s tireless running and huge quality helped Argentina beat France on Sunday and he will return to Brighton as a World Cup winner.
Tottenham have also been linked with the 23-year-old, with reports suggesting Antonio Conte wants to sign him in January.
But Spanish outlet AS claim that Arsenal are ready to battle with Atletico Madrid to sign the playmaker, potentially in January.
Arsenal want Mac Allister
Arsenal were looking at a new central midfielder in the closing days of the summer transfer window with Douglas Luiz their main target.
But they did not get him and now he has signed a new contract at Aston Villa ahead of a window where Mikel Arteta will want one or two in to bolster their title challenge.
A new wide forward seems to be the main priority, with Mykhailo Mudryk clearing their main target in that area of the pitch.
But a central midfielder may also be on the horizon, especially given Thomas Partey’s injury record.
Arsenal coach Jack Wilshere named Mac Allister in his World Cup team of the tournament, with Brighton teammate Joel Veltman telling Brighton’s official website that he has been ‘amazing‘ in Qatar.
That has only served to stoke up the conversation around Mac Allister’s future, but for now, he will just be celebrating the World Cup win, having become a national hero.
