Report: Arsenal now make their move over signing 'special' striker, would cost them £1.5m a month

Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign exactly how they left off, with a Boxing Day victory over West Ham United.

Goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah earned the Gunners three points.

A report from the Daily Mail has given an update on a player who could join that front line in January.

All eyes were on Nketiah to see if he could fill the hole left in the side by Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

He certainly proved he was capable of that, scoring an exquisite goal that secured three points for his side.

Arsenal are looking to make additions to the squad in January to keep their unlikely title bid on track.

The Daily Mail now believe Arsenal want Joao Felix on loan, and have made an enquiry to sign the forward.

There’s been plenty of interest in Felix over the last few weeks from Premier League sides.

Newcastle have held talks with Felix’s agents, while Chelsea have also been considering a move.

The ‘special’ striker could give Arteta another option in attack, and take some of the pressure off Nketiah.

Arsenal want Felix on loan

The report suggests that a loan move for Felix wouldn’t be cheap for the Gunners.

They believe any deal would include an £8m loan fee for Felix’s six-month spell at the club.

Arsenal would also be responsible for covering all of his wages, which would cost around £250k-a-week.

The forward has only started five league games this season, but has scored three goals and provided three assists.

He impressed for Portugal at the World Cup, scoring against Ghana, and looks set to be one of the players who will be tasked with replacing Cristiano Ronaldo for the national team.

Arsenal may want to make an enquiry for Felix in case they can’t complete a deal to bring in Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian is Arsenal’s number one target in January, and have already made a bid for the winger.

A report from 90min suggests the Gunners are confident that they’ll get their man next month.

An Arsenal side containing both Felix and Mudryk would be a seriously exciting prospect.
