Report: Arsenal monitor 17-goal forward with £60m release clause, Edu rates him very highly
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak as a possible transfer target.
According to the Athletic, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old rising star.
It is understood that Arsenal’s technical director Edu rates him highly and that he’s likely to be high up on the north London club’s transfer target list if they offload a striker this summer.
The report adds that the Sociedad frontman has a €70million (£60.2million) release clause in his deal with the Spanish club.
Isak scored 17 goals in 34 La Liga appearances this season. Additionally, he chipped in with two assists.
He’s such an all-round striker that can score with either feet or his head, plus he’s got the speed and physicality that makes him look like a natural fit for the Premier League.
Sweden are without their legendary forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic at this summer’s Euro 2020. However, Isak will be part of the Sweden team, and he’s their new star on the block that has five goals in 22 caps for his country so far.
Isak looks a brilliant target for Arsenal
If Arsenal need to sign an attacker during this window, Isak ticks so many boxes.
It’s unclear on how much it would cost to prize him away from current club Sociedad, but surely you could try bargain a deal for lower than his buy-out clause.
Aged 21, the quick centre-forward has just enjoyed a superb individual league campaign. As well as that, he’ll now be hoping to back that up at the Euros.
Arsenal’s recruitment has been mixed at times in recent years, but Isak is someone that may be an ideal fit for English football.
