Arsenal may reportedly have a better chance of signing Sheffield United’s Sander Berge if they compromise on the terms of the deal.
The Sheffield Star has reportedly detailed a potential twist in negotiations between the two clubs regarding the 23-year-old.
Apparently, the Blades have informed Arsenal they may compromise on a deal. However, are standing firm over their £35million price tag.
The report explains Mikel Arteta’s side are leading the race for the midfielder’s signature. But, a deal is still not done.
Sheffield United could relax their demand that the £35million sum is paid up front, as Arsenal would prefer to spread that fee over the course of a long-term contract. However, the Blades will need Arsenal to remove any performance related clauses which might prove impossible to trigger.
To summarise, Arsenal will be allowed to pay a £35million sum for Berge over a period of time, but Sheffield Untied want a guarantee it will all be paid.

Is Berge worth £35m for Arsenal?
Berge seems likely to leave Bramall Lane this summer following his side’s relegation from the Premier League.
Unfortunately, he only played 15 league games in the recent campaign through injury, which was a big blow to the team.
He’s an all-action powerhouse central midfielder who belong in the top flight, but it would be a big step up to come straight into the Arsenal XI at the Emirates Stadium.
The Norway international has a bit of everything to his game. Firstly, he’s got the physicality and stamina that suits the English game. Secondly, during the second half of the 2019/20 Premier League season he made a massive impact with Sheffield United. Finally, he could add the kind of steel that is desperately missing from the Arsenal midfield.
However, £35million looks a big gamble on paper for someone who’s not yet proven at the elite level.
