Arsenal appear to be in a good position to land a new marquee striker this summer, with Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reporting that the Gunners lead the race to sign Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has enjoyed a fantastic season with Napoli. He has scored 12 goals in 21 Serie A games at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Meanwhile, he scored four in five in the Europa League.

Reports claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham were crazy about the Nigeria international. However, Napoli are not going to let him leave on the cheap. In fact, their reported asking price is at least £84 million.

That would smash the Gunners’ club-record for a fee spent. But it would seem that that may not put Mikel Arteta’s men off a possible move.

Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reports that Arsenal are currently in the lead to sign Osimhen.

It has become apparent lately just how important it is that Arsenal sign a new striker this summer. Their hopes of finishing fourth in the Premier League have been dealt a big blow in the last couple of games. They have only scored two goals in their last four fixtures in the top-flight.

Alexandre Lacazette has struggled to make much of an impact. And, from the outside, it is hard to see the Frenchman sticking around.

The fans will want to see a big addition as soon as possible in the window. It is imperative that they sign a world-class goalscorer if they hope to keep progressing.

Osimhen has been ‘phenomenal‘ at times. And he has impressed almost wherever he has gone.

So it is extremely encouraging that Arsenal currently find themselves on pole position for a deal.
