Arsenal are one potential option for Georginio Wijnaldum with Paris Saint-Germain open to loaning the midfielder out during the January transfer window, according to a report from Sky Sports.

Wijnaldum only moved to Parc des Princes in the summer following the expiration of his contract at Liverpool. However, he has only started seven games in Ligue 1. Meanwhile, he has only started half of their Champions League group-stage games.

It would appear that he is already considering his future with Mauricio Pochettino’s men. And PSG are apparently open to letting him leave in some capacity in January.

Sky Sports reports that the Ligue 1 leaders are willing to listen to loan offers for the Dutchman. And interestingly, it is claimed that Arsenal are a potential suitor.

Wijnaldum may not come cheap. Previous reports suggested that he is on £165,000-a-week in the French capital. But he is a player with a fantastic record in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old won the league title as well as the Champions League while with Liverpool.

Arsenal need to strengthen in midfield in January. Thomas Partey has looked out of sorts for a little while. Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka’s season has been interrupted by injury. And it looks to be just a little too soon to put too much on the shoulders of Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Some may not want a loan move for Wijnaldum. But Arsenal managed to hold onto Martin Odegaard after his arrival last January. And the Norwegian has arguably been one of the Gunners’ better players of late.

Wijnaldum has been outstanding for club and country for some years. He can play in a variety of roles. And bringing him to the Emirates would be a real statement from Mikel Arteta and Edu.
