Arsenal are one of the sides interested in Nico Williams, with Goal suggesting that the Gunners may be tempted by his £43 million release clause following his appearance at the World Cup with Spain.
Williams only made his debut for Luis Enrique’s side in September. And yet, his form for Athletic earned him a place in his final 26-man squad for Qatar.

He has come on in the games against Costa Rica and Germany. And he has managed to impress. With that, it appears that interest in him may be building.
Arsenal interested in Nico Williams
Goal suggests that Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain could be tempted by Williams’ £43 million release clause off the back of the tournament.

Arsenal, of course, are looking to sign another winger. Reports from the Daily Mirror have suggested that they have been working on a deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail suggested that they are monitoring Christian Pulisic.
Williams is another extremely exciting target. He has scored four goals and provided four assists for Athletic this season.
His brother, Inaki – who is also at the World Cup, but with Ghana – has recently suggested that he is a great player in ‘incredible‘ shape.
Williams himself has claimed that his style is similar to Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in that he likes to dribble with the ball.
The 20-year-old is certainly still a work in progress. But Mudryk is only a little older. And Pulisic would arrive off the back of a difficult spell with Chelsea.
One thing which may make life trickier for Arsenal is the fact that Athletic only boast players with connections to the Basque region from childhood. So obviously, there is a much smaller pool for them to use to find a replacement if Williams leaves.
Thankfully, there is a release clause in his deal. But plenty of clubs will now be weighing up whether the time is right to make a move.
