Report: Arsenal closing in on £40m January deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk
Arsenal have received a huge boost ahead of the January transfer window, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the Gunners are closing in on agreeing a £40 million deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk.
It is hard to imagine that there are any Arsenal supporters who are unaware of Mudryk at this stage. He has been linked with the Gunners for several months.
He has been in sensational form for Shakhtar Donetsk this season. The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals and contributed eight assists across 18 appearances in all competitions. And his pace has frightened a raft of defenders.

It appeared that their hopes of signing Mudryk had been dealt a big blow. Shakhtar director of football Dario Srna recently told The Athletic that he was worth at least £88 million. He insisted that he had as much quality as Jack Grealish.
But it would seem that Arsenal may be about to land him for a lot less.
According to the Daily Mirror, the framework of a deal between Arsenal and Shakhtar is now in place. The report suggests that the Gunners will pay £40 million plus add-ons for the youngster.
The Mirror notes that Mudryk’s desire to play alongside Ukraine teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko has boosted Arsenal’s hopes of a deal.
Arsenal signing Mudryk in January is absolutely huge for Mikel Arteta’s men. Of course, they currently sit top of the Premier League table, five points clear of Manchester City.
January could therefore, be a crucial month for the Gunners. And a couple of new signings could go a long way to boosting their hopes of achieving something special.
Landing Mudryk would definitely be an amazing piece of business.
Fans may be wary of getting carried away until he is holding an Arsenal shirt. But these reports certainly suggest that he is well on his way to securing his move to the Emirates.
