Arsenal have shown strong interest in Leandro Paredes in the last few hours, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, but the midfielder is keen to join Juventus.

The Gunners could yet make a late move for a midfielder after losing Mohamed Elneny to injury. There is currently a question mark hanging over how long the Egypt international will be missing for.

And with that, Arsenal are seemingly looking on the market. And it appears that one player they have now shown strong interest in is Paredes.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to being linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. He looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain before the deadline passes. And reports this month claimed that Liverpool want the Argentina international.

Those reports noted that Paredes looked to be Juventus-bound. But that is only after Arsenal made an enquiry for the midfielder.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports however, that Paredes still wants to make the switch to Turin. And with that, PSG and Juve remain in talks over a future fee.

Paredes would not have necessarily been the most exciting signing Arsenal make this summer. But a deal would have had the potential to be an incredibly shrewd piece of business.

He has made nearly 120 appearances while at Parc des Princes. And he has previously been described as an ‘exceptional‘ talent.

Arsenal would also be taking a potential gamble if they let the window shut without signing another midfielder. Clearly, this season has the potential to be a special one for the Gunners.

But they will soon be competing on four fronts. And the Europa League stretches squads more than most competitions, it seems.

So another signing would be very welcome. However, they may have to look elsewhere after attempting to sign Paredes.
