Arsenal have had their bid rejected for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, with the Independent reporting that Edu Gaspar is now changing his plans.

The Gunners’ interest in Tielemans this summer has been well-documented and reports suggested yesterday they could make a deadline day move for the player.

And it seems that Arsenal have indeed made their move for the ‘special’ Tielemans.

Mikel Arteta has been left short in central midfield over the past week after injuries to Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey.

The Spaniard had to play youngster Sambi Lokonga during their 2-1 win over Aston Villa last night.

Now Arsenal transfer guru Edu is aiming to bring in another central midfielder before tonight’s deadline.

Arsenal have bid rejected for Tielemans

The Independent reports that Arsenal have had their bid rejected by Leicester for Tielemans.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is reluctant to allow the Belgian to leave after losing Wesley Fofana to Chelsea.

Tielemans is now into the final year of his contract at Leicester but it seems the Midlands club may still want to keep hold of him.

And now Edu is now looking at alternative options to the 25-year-old.

The Gunners will look into doing a deal for Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, who scored against them last night.

Edu is currently talking to Palmeiras about a move for Danilo, but the deal is unlikely to happen before the January window.

TBRs View: Arsenal may regret not going for Tielemans earlier in the window

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Tielemans all summer. And the midfielder could have been available at a cheap price due to his contract.

But for one reason or another, Arsenal had not made an official approach before today.

The deal could have probably been a lot easier to do earlier in the window. But with just hours left before the deadline, Leicester will be reluctant to sell.
