Arsenal have indeed made an early approach for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer, according to reports from Italy.
The Gunners have emerged as a surprise name in the clamour to potentially land Martinez this summer. Inter’s financial problems mean they could be open to selling, with Mikel Arteta keen on the forward.
And now Di Marzio claims that Arsenal have already come forward to Inter to ask about Martinez, with an initial ‘chat’ having already taken place.

The report states that Arsenal were the first in the queue to make such a move, and other clubs may now also follow suit.
Martinez was one of the stars of the show for Argentina during their recent Copa America success. The forward hit three goals in six games, taking him to an impressive 14 goals in just 28 internationals.
It’s been suggested Inter could demand north of £70m for Martinez, if they are to sell this summer. Barcelona have also held a long-term interest in the striker, although their money troubles could prevent a deal.
Arsenal meaning business?
It certainly looks that way. £50m on Ben White, and now a supposed approach for one of the very best in the game. It looks like the Gunners mean business.
Martinez would be a mind-blowing signing for Arsenal as well. The sort of signing that takes other teams by surprise, and sends a real message of intent.
Rest assured, this won’t be an easy deal. But if Edu can get it over the line, it will take Arsenal to the next level.
